Quality Engineer
Job Description
Scope of Position: The Quality Engineer is responsible for establishing initial quality parameters and maintaining product quality throughout its lifecycle. This role ensures prompt customer support and issue resolution, supports manufacturing and cross-functional teams, and promotes the company’s goal of achieving zero defects. The position also focuses on supplier quality through containment, corrective actions, and development activities. Key Responsibilities: Participate in drawing reviews to assess accuracy, specifications, and feasibility of customer requirements as part of APQP. Support ongoing program and milestone review meetings. Attend ECN meetings and update documentation and visual aids to meet PPAP timelines. Review CMM reports, MSA, SPC studies, and support PPAP and validation activities. Participate in gauge design, approvals, GR&R studies, and ensure compliance with customer requirements. Coordinate special studies related to customer complaints or internal issues. Lead supplier-related quality issues, including containment, disposition, and prevention of escapes to customers. Follow up with suppliers on corrective actions and verify implementation. Manage and document quality issues, including cost tracking and reporting (DMN process). Conduct supplier audits and follow up on corrective actions. Prepare and publish monthly supplier performance reports. Communicate directly with customers and suppliers. Support customer PPAP submissions and approve supplier PPAPs as required. Develop and maintain control plans, PFMEA, DFMEA, and work instructions with cross-functional teams. Lead root cause analysis and resolution of internal and external quality issues. Generate customer-specific reports and provide status updates. Conduct layered audits and address non-conformances. Manage non-conforming products and drive corrective actions. Support warranty reviews and customer satisfaction initiatives. Support Kaizen initiatives by reviewing quality data to improve process efficiency. Assist in operator training for new programs. Support product testing and development of error-proofing (poka-yoke) solutions. Maintain inspection sheets and visual standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Basic Requirements: University degree or College Diploma in Manufacturing or Quality Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 3 to 5 years of working experience in Quality or a related field. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, cross-functional environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T. Solid understanding of SPC, PPAP, and problem-solving methodologies. Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) designation is an asset. Certified Internal IATF Auditor is an asset. Knowledge of ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 standards is preferred. Willingness to travel as required. Strong English communication skills (written and verbal). Experience with CMM software such as PCDMIS and ZEISS Inspect, is an asset. Familiarity with Minitab is preferred. This job posting is for an existing vacancy.
