The HV Power distribution & Conversion System Engineer (M/F) position is within Airbus UpNext and it consists of a limited contract linked to the deliverable of the demonstrator (estimated completion date April – 2028 ) , starting ASAP, Getafe. Mission: Reporting directly to the Technical Director and collaborating closely with the engineering team, you will act as the principal technical expert for aircraft electrical protection and conversion architectures. Your focus will be on defining equipment specifications, evaluating electrical faults, and configuring advanced protection device schemes to support the safe electrification of future commercial aircraft. Your Main Responsibilities: Architecture & Equipment Focus: Drive the development of aircraft electrical architectures, focusing specifically on high-power conversion hardware and distribution boxes. Power Electronics Engineering: Lead technical activities concerning power electronics topologies, including AC/DC and DC/AC electrical converters. Regulatory Compliance: Maintain and apply deep knowledge of aeronautical standards and regulatory frameworks governing complex AC/DC electrical architectures. Design & Modification Specifications: Craft comprehensive technical specifications for conversion and distribution equipment modifications. Selectivity & Protection Analysis: Perform rigorous protection selectivity analysis to validate the performance, timing, and isolating behavior of circuit breakers, fuses, and protection systems during network faults. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Interface with existing team experts to strategically overlap and capitalize on shared electrical distribution know-how. The responsibilities and the technical scope of the job might evolve according to the agile working environment of the project, so being flexible is important. Your boarding pass What you bring: Master Degree in Electrical Engineering. 10+ years of experience in Electrical System Architecture, in Aerospace (E-VTOL, Hybrid-Electric, etc.). Extensive background and deep expertise in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related fields. Strong technical background in aeronautical electrical networks, specifically aligned with ATA 24 systems. Proven experience in electrical design tools, developing technical specifications, single-line diagrams, and evaluating protection selectivity against faults including but not limited to: partial discharge, short circuit and arc flash. Familiarity with aeronautical standards and safety baselines. Strong English communication skills. Spanish is a plus.
